Are you training for the 2008 Lifestyle Sports – adidas Dublin Marathon?
While pushing yourself to the limits, you could also be helping people in need of vital services.

Combining your marathon run with fundraising efforts on behalf of SPIRASI would contribute enormously to our important work. SPIRASI is a non-profit NGO which works with asylum seekers and refugees with special regard for survivors of torture.

SPIRASI runs the only centre that specialises in treating survivors of torture living in Ireland and your support is invaluable in helping us provide our services. Our work enables survivors of torture to reclaim their lives by helping them deal with the physical and psychological scars of their horrific experiences. SPIRASI has helped more than 2,800 survivors of torture over the last nine years. Furthermore, we have helped numerous asylum seekers and refugees by providing English language, computer classes and employment programmes so that they can become active participants in Irish society.

Last year, ten people participated in the SPIRASI marathon team — Full report of the 2007 Marathon with photos

In 2006, eight SPIRASI staff and volunteers (including three first-timers) participated in the Dublin City Marathon and six of these successfully completed the whole 26 miles — Full report of the 2006 Marathon with photos.
