SPIRASI in collaboration with the Crow Gallery is holding an exhibition of the work of Nigerian sculptor Mike Ogaga Owairu. Titled Conforming in Diversiform, this exhibition expresses the artist's relationship with movement and dance as a driving force of change in his life.
His art answers the question "Why do we dance?". The response from his artist's statement is the positive harmonizing of junk metal, emotion and movement. Through the natural characteristic of rust and metal he represents weakness but also strength. I have found strength forging my way through this medium of expression. In my approach to movement my focal point is set as rhythmic movement in its peak performance. While trying to achieve perfection in the flow, it brings pleasure to the soul, renewing our spirit.
The launch of the exhibition takes place on the 24th of August at 6pm and will be opened by John Haskins of the Reception & Integration Agency. (Refreshments will be provided). The exhibition will be held on the First Floor of the Crow Gallery at 6 Crow Street, Temple Bar, Dublin.
