Spirasi has updated its Data Protection Policy and Procedures in order to comply with  the data protection law introduced by the EU General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) which comes into force on 25th May 2018. The core aim of the GDPR is to make data processing more transparent. It also gives you more control over any information Spirasi holds about you.

Spirasi collects personal data in order to provide for the rehabilitation of survivors of torture. Before collecting such data Spirasi will ask

for consent to collect, process and hold personal data. This consent will be be freely given and specific.

With regards to the assessments and ongoing care and support of clients,Spirasi may share data with non-Spirasi persons e.g. medical, legal, and therapeutic professionals, and specific personnel involved in providing education, accommodation and social welfare supports to our clients.
As part of the GDPR you have the following (and other) rights regarding your data:


  • Right of access to data.
  • Right to have inaccuracies corrected.
  • Right to have data erased/deleted.
  • Right to object to direct marketing.
  • Right to object to processing of information.
  • Right to data portability.
  • Right to place a complaint.



Spirasi will not hold personal data for longer than necessary for the specified purpose.
