Spirasi – Physicians Required

Spirasi is the national centre of Ireland that provides rehabilitation services for victims of torture.

We are looking to recruit to our panel of Physicians to provide medical assessments for victims of torture and medical legal reports for the protection determination process. Because of the gender ratio of our clients female physicians are encouraged to apply.

Board of Directors of SPIRASI – Seeking expressions of interest

SPIRASI, an NGO and a work of the Irish Spiritan Province, was set-up in the late 1990s.  It has as a key priority the provision of a range of rehabilitation services for survivors of torture who have sought asylum in Ireland. ( ) A 5-year Strategic Plan, due to take effect in January 2018, is currently being prepared and is expected to be signed-off by the end of this year by the current, 10-person board of directors of SPIRASI. 
The current board-membership includes individuals:
  • from a migrant background;
  • with professional expertise in areas such as education, finance, health and law;
and / or
  • who have experience in the NGO sector or as members of other boards.
Expressions of interest are now being sought from persons available to serve on the board for at least one term of three years – either as replacements for or additions to current members – and who:
  • have professional qualifications / experience in areas such as business, fundraising, governance, HR, integration & migrant issues, media or mental health;
  • have previous experience of serving on a board of directors;
and / or
  • would like to play their part in overseeing the implementation of the new Strategic Plan.
